Remember the Micromax Bling series? That cute, squarish shaped handset studded with diamonds that came in white and pink colours to especially cater to the female crowd. Micromax even had a cheesy advert to promote the phone where models collided into each other on the runway losing focus all because of a glimpse at Micromax Q55 Bling! The phone not just sported Swarovski crystals but came fitted even with vanity mirrors! Talk of calling attention to oneself!
While the first Micromax Bling, Q55 Bling sure managed to catch on with the female population, it was more of a feature phone than a true smartphone. Looks like Micromax is all set to remedy that. Popular e-commerce sites have listed Micromax Bling 3 and the phone is already up for pre-order! While there’s no news from Micromax yet, we are guessing the announcement is not that far off.
The phone, unlike the original Bling will be based on the now universally adopted Android platform. Micromax Bling 3 A86, unlike the popular Android devices comes with a hardware button. While Android has pretty much eliminated the need to have hardware buttons on their devices and most phones sport capacitive touch keys, there are a few phone-makers like Samsung that still prefer providing hardware buttons. No prizes for guessing that the hardware button is a big glittering crystal and comes surrounded by tiny crystals. We can already see female reader’s eyes going wide with want!
The crystals, as the phone screen advertises are Swarovski Zirconia crystals on the front side. The back of the phone is also interesting with a crisscross pattern. The phone, available in white, is clearly targeted at the female audience, keeping Micromax Bling tradition alive. We definitely like the look of the phone and Bling 3 A86 is one hell of a charmer in the looks department!
But as they say, looks are not all. So far, all we know of the features are just that the phone runs on the slightly outdated Jelly Bean ver 4.1. We do hope Micromax provides an upgrade to ver 4.2 pretty soon after launch. Other specifications too are pretty basic with a 4-inch capacitive display. The phone, targeted at females is definitely a compact package. Micromax perhaps wanted to ensure that the phone fits in the hand comfortably and is comfortable to hold.
Under the hood of the Bling 3 will run a dual-core 1 GHz processor. There’s no word on the internal memory or RAM yet. However, irrespective of the internal memory, the phone will support expandable memory up to 32 GB. Micromax Bling 3 also sports a 5 MP rear-end snapper and a VGA front camera with single flash.
The phone comes with dual-SIM support and is WiFi enabled. Micromax Bling 3 also supports 1600 mAh battery which Micromax says gives 4 hours talk-time and 200 hours stand-by time.
The phone is clearly a budget smartphone (Micromax executives definitely on’t want females bargaining over the price in showrooms now, do they?) but a slight modification of the specifications wouldn’t hurt. We think Micromax is focusing too much on the looks rather than the features with this device. However, a decent pricing and the phone might be a success as the original Bling Q55. We just hope it doesn’t get lost like the Bling 2, which though pretty once again skimped on specifications. Which history will repeat? The near future will tell!
